Delivering Value Beyond Packaging

Reusable Packaging

The UK Government issued the long awaited ‘Packaging Strategy’ document earlier in 2009 in which they not only promoted reusable packaging but also made it clear they intended to re-enforce the part of the Packaging Waste Regulations that promotes ‘package reuse’ and ‘packaging reduction’ ahead of packaging recycling under the waste hierarchy. In the report the Government said it would introduce incentives that encourage re-use ahead of recycling….watch this space for Government update.

Below are some good examples of multi-trip packaging.

Carrierpac

Returnable Packaging Services Ltd

EF Logo RPS provides a fully managed system for the proactive collection of customer's empty reusable transport packaging and associated equipment. This currently includes wooden / plastic pallets, top boards, metal racks, stillages, timber boxes, IBC`s Octoboxes and big bags (FIBCS).

RPS can help to minimise the impact of packaging through proactive collection and reuse of what in effect is a company's asset. RPS can advise clients on packaging minimisation where reuse is not practical, and can specify recycled content where practicable. Any packaging collected by RPS on your behalf, that cannot be used by your company, will either be reused by a third party or reprocessed into wood chip briquettes.
